Awful news, Liverpool suffer third major injury
Awful news, Liverpool suffer third major injury Liverpool have suffered another major injury in the international break. Things haven't been going well for the Reds. Liverpool were hoping to return from the extended international break quite refreshed and ready to push on with this new group of players. Things have not played out that way and the Reds now need to make some very tough decisions ahead of the weekend. Manchester City will travel to Anfield for a match the world will be watching. It's a major clash anyway, of course, but it's also the first since City were found guilty of mass cheating - arguably the biggest scandal to hit English football. Liverpool could really use a full squad, then. Instead, they've already seen both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo return from international duty early because of injuries. Both are starting XI players for Andoni Iraola. Both may now need careful management. And they're no longer even the only ones. Jeremy Jacquet injured Jeremy Jacquet was left out of France’s squad to face Belgium on Monday evening. The defender has a left hamstring strain, per Fabrice Hawkins . Now, suggestions are that this was mainly just precaution. At the same time, Liverpool cannot take a chance on a hamstring injury and it’s very, very possibly that Iraola decides to wait on Jacquet before throwing him into a game. Especially with City being the next fixture. Is the 21-year-old really able to cope with Erling Haaland when he’s not 100 per cent? Would Liverpool even want him to try? The worst-case, after all, is starting Jacquet and aggravating the injury, keeping him out long-term. Liverpool simply don’t have the squad to cope with that - not while Joe Gomez is working his way back, Giovanni Leoni hasn’t played for a year, and Ronald Araujo is needed at right-back.
