Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast , journalist Pete O’Rourke provided an update on the future of Manchester City winger Rayan Cherki. O’Rourke said, “These top clubs across Europe will be keeping a watching the situation at City to see what does happen to the club. “The vultures will be circling and they will be ready to pounce if the door opens that their players could be available in the near future. “Cherki is a top player, he proved it last season, his first season in the Premier League, when he was outstanding for Man City. “A French international, he’s an absolute proven quality so look any club would be delighted to have the opportunity to sign someone like Ryan Cherki. “Whether that’s in the Premier League or abroad, I’m sure there’ll be a lot of clubs who would be interested in signing the mercurial Frenchman as well. “If City are demoted down the leagues or meaning that they can’t qualify for the Champions League as well, these players you’d imagine at some point will want to move on. “Cherki and his teammates joined the club to play at the highest level, to compete for trophies, and if that’s not the case going forward, then it’s inevitable that some players will have to leave. “They will seek moves away and I’m sure that’s what all these top clubs across Europe are waiting to see what happens and they will be ready to move.” Cherki’s Impressive Form In The Premier League Cherki has enjoyed a decent run of form at the Mancunian club in this campaign so far as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The French attacker has registered four goals and grabbed two assists in eight matches for Man City last season, scoring four times and earning a couple of assists in multiple competitions. The 23-year-old is currently among the best playmakers in the Premier League . Hence, it is no surprise that he might decide to leave Man City if they get relegated from the Premier League. His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2030. However, the Mancunian giants were recently found guilty of breaching the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules, which could force them to sell off most of their star players. Cherki is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to score. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and can also contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his side. The French attacker is primarily an attacking midfielder but can also play as a winger on either flank if needed. He remains one of the first names in Enzo Maresca’s teamsheet. Cheriki is currently an irreplaceable member of Man City ‘s squad. However, the Mancunian club would struggle to keep hold of him if they fail to win their appeal. At 23, Cherki has his best years ahead of him. Still, Maresca might have little choice but to let him leave this January or at the end of this season.
