Key Barcelona star to resume group training today with an eye on Getafe clash With the international break finally over, FC Barcelona will continue to prepare for the weekend La Liga clash against Getafe. And, the big news from the training ground this day will centre on Joan Garcia. Indeed, according to SPORT , the goalkeeper is set to return to group training today after spending the past few weeks focused on his recovery. The Spanish international is expected to complete a significant part of the session alongside his teammates, although Barça will continue to manage his workload without rushing the process. What happened to Joan Garcia? Garcia was injured on 16 September during the match against Racing Santander. In the final minutes of the first half, he slipped while attempting to collect the ball and hurt his right knee. Joan Garcia will resume training today. Subsequent tests revealed a minor injury in his right knee, that has kept him out for almost three weeks. The international break has given Garcia time to make progress in his recovery, with his condition improving as the days have passed. His return to group training represents an important step towards being available for Barcelona’s match against Getafe this weekend. Joan Garcia targeting Getafe If Garcia manages to complete the next few training sessions without any problems and Hansi Flick believes the time is right, the goalkeeper could return to the starting XI against Getafe. Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old shot-stopper had made six appearances in La Liga this season, keeping three clean sheets in the process. His return would come at an important point in the season. Barcelona have made an excellent start to the season and will now look to consolidate that early momentum. In the previous league match, Flick opted to start with summer arrival Dominik Livakovic despite also having Szczesny available, and the Croatian would be the preferred option if Flick opts not to take any risks with Garcia .
