Monaco’s Filipe Luís reveals managerial influences Speaking in an interview with L’Équipe , AS Monaco’s Filipe Luís has revealed his managerial influences. The Brazilian has enjoyed a strong start to life at the Principality club. Luís arrived in Europe this summer already highly rated thanks to his spell at Flamengo in his native Brazil. Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has already stated that he was happy to see Luís join Ligue 1 last summer; that was before Les Monégasques beat his side at the Parc des Princes. The Principality club headed into the international break top of Ligue 1. The respect between Luís and Luis Enrique is mutual in any case, with the former citing the latter as the best manager in the world currently. However, in an interview with L’Équipe, he did cite other influences. A meeting with Aston Villa manager Emery “I have quite a few sources of inspiration, like Pep Guardiola, Unai Emery, who I visited in March,” said Luís. “But I have my own approach,” highlighted the Monaco manager. Luís then went on to address what he has seen from his team in the opening weeks of the season. “We haven’t yet reached where I want us to be tactically. With matches, bodies will adapt to the effort. We will run more in November and then again in December – more and better, I hope. That is the only way to do big things,” he said.
