Arsenal emerge as potential January destination for out-of-favour Barcelona defender – report

Arsenal emerge as potential January destination for out-of-favour Barcelona defender – report Arsenal have emerged as a potential destination for Barcelona defender Alejandro Balde, with his uncertain situation at the Catalan club opening the door to a possible Premier League move in January. According to SPORT , Arsenal’s interest comes at a time when Balde’s position at Barcelona has become increasingly difficult.  The academy graduate entered the season hoping to reclaim an important role under Hansi Flick, but that has not happened so far. The next few months could therefore prove decisive for the Spanish international , particularly with Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on his situation. Alejandro Balde transfer: Arsenal enter the race Balde was already attracting interest from England during the summer, when Manchester United explored the possibility of getting closer to the left-back.  At that stage, however, the 22-year-old was determined to remain at Barcelona because he believed he could fight his way back into Flick’s plans and establish himself as an important player again. Arsenal interest could change Balde’s future As it turns out, Arsenal are now among the clubs monitoring the situation.  SPORT claims Balde would be prepared to consider joining Mikel Arteta’s side if his lack of playing time continues, marking an important change from the summer.  His preference then was to stay and prove himself at Barça , but a continued lack of continuity could now make a move to London more appealing, particularly if Arsenal decide to turn their interest into something concrete. Barcelona still hold the advantage Notably, Barcelona are not under immediate pressure to sell. Balde remains tied to the club until 2028, giving the Catalan side a strong negotiating position if Arsenal or another suitor makes an approach. The situation could become more complicated next summer, though. Balde will enter the final year of his contract, while Barcelona have not yet taken steps towards another renewal. For now, though, the biggest factor may be sporting rather than financial.  If Flick cannot offer Balde a clear path back into the team, the defender’s position could look very different by January.
