Andoni Iraola wants to agree deal for 'brilliant' sensation, his agents are keen

Andoni Iraola wants to agree deal for 'brilliant' sensation, his agents are keen Liverpool have dominated the transfer rumour mill since the window slammed shut at the start of September. Even though the Reds spent over £150 million on new players, there are still a fair few areas among their ranks that could do with an upgrade or two. Liverpool's fanbase and their recruitment staff all know which area of their squad needs sorting and, without those sections being upgraded, it's hard to see how they'll be able to challenge for any sort of silverware this season. But, seeing as though the January transfer window is the only real chance that they'll get to bring anyone in, they're going to have to act fast, especially with how many contracts they have expiring at the end of the current campaign . A regular theme at Anfield has been letting first-team regulars leave for nothing but, with Iraola now at the helm, there's hope that will change. And, after the latest news to emerge from Anfield, that feels like exactly what is about to happen. Liverpool are 'confident' of agreeing a new contract with Rio Ngumoha As mentioned, several members of Liverpool's squad have their contracts expiring in June 2027. The Anfield outfit have chosen to delay talks for a while with negotiations about Alisson and Virgil van Dijk not set to take place until the New Year . However, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all exiting Anfield as free agents over the last couple of years, it's clear that something needs to change. Liverpool have secured some of their players' futures by tying down Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch to long-term deals but, there are still some question marks hanging over the heads of others. One of the biggest names is Rio Ngumoha . Even though the attackers deal doesn't expire until 2028, with how good he is and how much potential he has, every single club in the world will be vying for his transfer if Liverpool don't lock him down. Ngumoha is a unicorn and, it's rare that a player of his quality emerges so, the latest update on his situation from Football Insider is certainly what the Reds will have been hoping for. "Liverpool are "confident" that they will tie winger Rio Ngumoha down to a new contract in the coming months, sources have told Football Insider," they wrote . "The 18-year-old starlet is heading towards the conclusion of his current deal in the summer of 2028, but there is "optimism" from all sides that an extension is not too far away. "Sources say that Ngumoha's camp are keen to strike a deal that reflects his rapid rise and newfound status within Andoni Iraola's squad. "Liverpool are also hopeful that they can reach a long-term agreement with Ngumoha and extend his stay at Anfield well beyond the current 2028 arrangement." Liverpool tying Rio Ngumoha down to a long-term deal would be a huge statement of intent Obviously, among Liverpool's ranks at the moment, Ngumoha has the most potential to fulfil. Although Trey Nyoni is also being asked to play a regular role for Iraola this term, there's no hiding from the fact that Ngumoha is going to be one of the Reds' next big projects. Right now, Liverpool have four left-wingers among their ranks and, while they can all play on either side of the attack, Ngumoha clearly performs better on the left. And, if the Anfield outfit are wanting to keep him around, playing him in his favoured position is probably going to be one of the best ways for them to do that. Since he's so sought-after, Ngumoha won't be short of suitors and, whatever deal Liverpool try and agree, will have to be enough to keep him in L4 for a long while. Obviously, this deal would come with an increase in pressure on the " brilliant " attacker's shoulders but, since Iraola seems to have a way to get the best out of his attackers, staying with the Reds could be Ngumoha's best chance of progressing and further developing his talent.
