Liverpool want long-term Arsenal target, he'd cost £50m
Liverpool want long-term Arsenal target, he'd cost £50m Over the last couple of years, Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of players. In the 2026-27 summer transfer window alone, the Anfield outfit spent over £150 million on new signings . For now, most of them have met expectations and have helped improve the Reds' ranks but, until the end of the campaign comes around, they'll not know for sure whether their transfer windows were a success or not. Although all that money was spent on new players in the summer, Liverpool are still eyeing moves for other players ahead of the January transfer window. And now, they could be about to make their move for one of Mikel Arteta's long-term targets. Liverpool want to sign Fulham's starlet, Josh King Liverpool's midfield is still their main problem area. Since Fabinho exited Anfield back in 2023, Liverpool haven't been able to properly replace him. Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and even Joe Gomez have all been used as Liverpool's number six and, although Gravenberch may have had one solid season, since then, he's been miles off the pace. This has led to the rumour mill going into overdrive with Lamine Camara, Alex Scott and Adam Wharton all being linked with a switch . However, as per a fresh update from 442, another number six has entered into Liverpool's thought process. "According to information from 4-4-2.ch , Arsenal, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund are seriously considering signing King," they wrote . "Gunners coach Mikel Arteta is convinced of the playmaker's qualities. The same is true for Liverpool's management, who have been monitoring the England U21 international for some time. "So far, Fulham have not received a concrete offer. King's contract with the West London club currently runs until 2029. "His club has ruled out a sale in the winter transfer window. However, this could change next summer – provided the offer is right. The asking price is already around €60 million." Josh King would be an unreal coup for Liverpool As mentioned, Liverpool's midfield is a major problem area for them at the moment. Recently, the Reds have extended the contracts of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai with the club thinking that the duo would be central to their plans over the coming years. However, with Iraola now at the helm, the duo only really fit into his plans as a double pivot and, as they have already proven multiple times this season, neither of them can play with one another in that role. Both central midfielders push forward far too often and fail to cover one another. This is why Alexis Mac Allister has been given so much game time as, unlike the aforementioned duo, he can actually win a duel. However, Liverpool signing King would be a different level altogether. The 19-year-old has been a revelation for Fulham and, even though he's still so young, he's probably one of their best players. £50 million for a 19-year-old is obviously a hefty chunk of change but, with how many top-level clubs are interested in signing him, it's clear that he's probably going to be worth every penny. King is also an awful lot cheaper than some of the other options discussed at Liverpool and, since they've already prised a few of Fulham's youngsters away from them in the past, it certainly feels like a deal could be reached.
