Official | Former Rennes midfielder Flavien Tait announces retirement Former Stade Rennais midfielder Flavien Tait has retired from football at the age of 33. The Frenchman has been out of contract since leaving Rodez at the start of the year. Tait brought his 14-year playing career to an end in a statement on Wednesday. The midfielder began life at Chateauroux back in 2012 before making the move to SCO Angers in 2016. It was in 2019 that he would play in Ligue 1 for the first time. With Rennes, he would go on to play in European competition, including in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and Europa Conference League. He left Les Rennais in 2023 to join Samsunspor in Turkiye. He would then return to his native France two seasons later, joining Ligue 2 side Rodez. However, his stint there would be shortlived. Just two months and five games later, he left the club in January and had been a free agent prior to his retirement. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
