Liverpool star can save his career as major news emerges from Anfield

Liverpool star can save his career as major news emerges from Anfield Liverpool's first-team squad have had a lot of questions asked about them this season. Last term, the Anfield outfit spent over £450 million on new players but still only managed a fifth-place finish. This led to Arne Slot being sacked with Andoni Iraola being appointed as his successor . At the moment, the Spaniard is doing a fairly decent job as Liverpool are currently unbeaten across all competitions. Of course, this could all change by the end of their game against Manchester City on Sunday but, for now, Liverpool seem to be in a good place. But, for some players, things haven't gone as well as they'd have hoped and, for one of Iraola's men, he may have just been handed his best chance yet to save his Liverpool career. Jeremy Jacquet's injury could lead to Jeremie Frimpong starting vs Manchester City and Ronald Araujo have been Liverpool's two best signings of the summer. Each of the defenders have helped shore up the Reds' back line massively and, without them, it's hard to see how they'd have remained unbeaten for as long as they have. Obviously, right-back was a huge issue for Slot last term with Dominik Szobsozlai and Curtis Jones both having to play there fairly regularly. Whether it was because of injuries or poor form, both Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley were regularly unavailable. This is why Araujo and Jacquet were both brought in. However, now that Jacquet has been injured on international duty, it's unknown when he's going to return to action. He's had to return to Anfield thanks to his hamstring strain and, while his absence is likely to be a huge blow for Liverpool, for Frimpong, it could be his last chance of saving his Liverpool career. Jeremie Frimpong has to perform at his best against Manchester City Last summer, Frimpong was brought in to be Trent Alexander-Arnold 's successor. The Dutchman was coming off the back of two extremely impressive seasons with Bayer Leverkusen where he contributed to over 30 goals across all competitions. The fact that he's also homegrown was another major selling point. However, since his arrival, he's failed to meet expectations and, right now, it doesn't feel like there's a future for him in L4. Whether he's used as a right-back or a right-winger, there's always some part of his game that isn't quite up to the standards required. However, with Jacquet out of action, Araujo is likely to be moved into centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk, opening up the right-back position. This is where Frimpong comes in. Although other players such as Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez could be used there , the most logical option is Frimpong.
