The investigation into City’s breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules covered the years from 2009-10 until 2017-18. Speaking in an interview with Ivan Zazzaroni of the Corriere dello Sport, Mourinho joked: “I prefer to laugh about it a bit. I think there will be a conclusion, but the two of us in our sixties will need luck to still be here when the final sentence comes out. There’s the verdict, then there will be appeals and appeals.” ‘The Special One’ went on to joke that he might be 80 years old by the time that a final punishment is given to City, but says that he hopes to still be coaching at that point as long as he has his health.
