OneFootball x Shed Seven: It's been a very worrying start for Man Utd ... again As part of OneFootball's collaboration series with Shoot Music we're interviewing an artist about their love of football. This week it's Manchester United fan and member of Shed Seven, Rick Witter When did you start supporting Man United and why? I remember being really young, four or five-years-old when I started supporting Manchester Utd. My dad was a Red so it was in the house from the beginning really. I had the pyjamas and quilt cover pretty early on in life, and I have fond memories of hoofing a ball around pretending to be a part of the team. I think I scored the winning goal in the cup final on countless occasions. What is your favourite memory of supporting Man United as a child? A very early memory is beating Liverpool 2-1 in the 1977 FA Cup final, although I was still too young really. I remember a happy atmosphere in the house which probably helped me fall in love with the team. Obviously, as a slightly older gent, you can’t really compete against the treble winning team of 1999 which, as a United fan, was definitely a time to be alive. What are your predictions for Man United this season? Following on from last season it would be great to see the team keep pushing for another top 3 place. It’s gonna be a while before we can dominate again, but if the team can keep improving anything is possible. Recently it would appear that you don’t know what is coming from game to game, so a bit of consistency is the way forward. How are you feeling after the opening five Premier League games of the season? Is it too early to start worrying about United's results and performances? It has been a very worrying start to the season. Again, so much inconsistency. It’s frustrating to see the team playing so well one game, and then so poorly in the next. We can only hope that the lengthy international break will do some good when the team regroup for the next onslaught of games. On the positive, I guess in the long run we have less to worry about (apart from our own performance of course) off the field than perhaps other particular teams at the moment. Which new player do you think will have the brightest impact this season? I’m hoping Youri Tielemans will stamp some authority in midfield, and create assists/goals regularly. That’s just an opinion though so I hope it doesn’t come back to haunt me. In summary, I have High Hopes that the team will Stand Together and will keep Getting Better as they continue Going For Gold…. 'The Centre of My Everything' by Shed Seven is out now. Their forthcoming self-titled album is set for release on January 8th, 2027 You can follow the band here: @shedsevenofficial
