SK Rapid continues annual blood donation campaign In Austria, a blood donation is needed every 90 seconds. This means that almost 1,000 blood units are required every day. Blood donations are essential in many different situations. They can be needed after accidents, during childbirth or by patients suffering from serious illnesses. With this in mind, SK Rapid hosted its latest blood donation campaign alongside the Austrian Red Cross. The event gave members of the Rapid family the opportunity to make a real difference away from the football pitch. More than 100 Rapid supporters attended the event at the Allianz Stadion and donated what the club described as their ‘green blood’ for a good cause. Rapid fans rewarded for their support The supporters who took part were not only helping people in need. They also received a green-and-white goodie bag as a thank you for their donations. There was also a special surprise for those attending the campaign. Rapid players Kayleigh van Niehoff and Paul Gartler visited the event, giving supporters the chance to meet them. The pair also took the time to pose for photographs and sign autographs. For many fans, it provided an extra special memory from the day.
