Everton Eye £60m 20-Year-Old Striker As Agent Urges PL Move: Should Moyes Risk The Fee?

Everton Eye £60m 20-Year-Old Striker As Agent Urges PL Move: Should Moyes Risk The Fee? Everton’s striker shortage could push David Moyes back into the market in January, with Christian Kofane emerging as a target after a summer approach failed. The 20-year-old Cameroon international has attracted Premier League interest since his breakthrough. Bayer Leverkusen rejected three offers worth £60m, according to his agent Eric Depolo, with Everton, Aston Villa and Newcastle involved. Depolo said: “Yes, it is true. I can guarantee you that the best option for everyone is to consider a permanent transfer to the Premier League this winter or next summer.” Kofane joined Leverkusen from Albacete in July 2025 and signed a contract until 2029. He scored eight goals in 20 appearances for the Spanish second tier. His progress accelerated in Germany. Depolo told Arsenal Daily that talks over a proposed extension to 2031 have stalled, while he believes a Premier League transfer in January or next summer would serve his client best. That could encourage Everton to return. The club needed a centre-forward, yet the £40m move for Folarin Balogun collapsed on deadline day after the forward changed his mind following his medical. Beto had already left for Fiorentina, leaving Thierno Barry as Moyes’ recognised senior striker. Everton explored Joshua Zirkzee and Tammy Abraham, but neither move materialised. Kofane offers a profile. He stands around 1.89m tall, has pace and physical strength and can attack crosses while threatening space behind defenders. He is a powerful, fast and technically gifted centre-forward. Kofane has scored two Bundesliga goals from four appearances this season, according to Bundesliga data, while he has registered 10 goals and six assists across 50 senior appearances for Leverkusen. There is a concern. Leverkusen confirmed on October 8 that Kofane suffered a muscle injury to his left thigh while on Cameroon duty and will miss upcoming matches. Goodison News first reported Everton’s summer interest. Depolo’s latest comments have added fuel. Any January deal would demand money, particularly with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle monitoring the situation. Should Everton risk a £60m-plus January bid for Christian Kofane? LONDON, ENGLAND – MARCH 17: Christian Kofane of Bayer 04 Leverkusen runs with the ball during the UEFA Champions League 2025/26 Round of 16 Second Leg match between Arsenal FC and Bayer 04 Leverkusen at Arsenal Stadium on March 17, 2026 in London, England. (Photo by Warren Little/Getty Images) Moyes should make the move if Leverkusen open the door. Barry cannot carry the striker workload all season, and Everton need an option. A £60m fee would be risky for a 20-year-old with limited experience. Yet Kofane’s age, physical profile and production give him resale value, while his ability to play alongside Barry gives Moyes more options. The injury should trigger a medical assessment before any deal progresses. Even so, Everton need to act if Leverkusen signal he will negotiate, because Arsenal and Newcastle could turn a January chase into an auction.
