Could Liverpool really be about to sign Kylian Mbappe?
Could Liverpool really be about to sign Kylian Mbappe? Kylian Mbappe is once again being linked with a move to Liverpool, and this time it could really happen. For years many Reds have dreamt of seeing the legendary Frenchman playing at Anfield every other week, and that dream could finally be coming true. Having been linked with a Merseyside move for close to a decade, Mbappe has a strong story with Liverpool already and a fall out at Real Madrid could lead the 27-year-old to finally play his football in L4. Mbappe to Liverpool would be one of the biggest deals in football history , but we know the Reds aren’t afraid to spend and a deal definitely be done. Could Liverpool really sign Kylian Mbappe? When asking if the Reds could sign Mbappe the answer is a resounding yes, but the better question is: will they? Liverpool have invested heavily in the squad over the last 18 months, adding three players for over £100 million, breaking the British transfer record twice and spending over £650 million in three windows. There’s no indication that they will slow down any time soon either, with fresh investment from the 1892 Holdings group fronted by Amit Bhatia and backed by Jeff Bezos. If 1892 Holdings do take full control of the club, which has been heavily rumoured, then a marquee signing could be on the cards and there would be no bigger signing than Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman reportedly earns over €1 million a week at Real Madrid, so bringing him in on an equivalent salary would shatter the wage structure at Anfield, but surely adding one of the best known players in world football would be worth it. Mbappe would complete Liverpool’s attacking rebuild, partnering Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Bradley Barcola to form one of the most frightening attacking units in the history of the game. Liverpool making a move for the Frenchman felt inevitable for some time, especially when the Reds first agreed their kit deal with Nike, but it always seemed farfetched because the club’s spending was limited under Jurgen Klopp. The shackles are off now though, and Liverpool have become a free spending force ready to compete with any side for their top targets. Mbappe to Liverpool feels more realistic now than it ever has before, especially if 1892 Holdings take full control at Anfield, and the Reds’ dreams could finally come true.
