Jay's equaliser was his third league goal of the season for Torquay United [Shutterstock] Torquay United boss Jimmy Ball says he is proud of his side as they came from a goal down in the final 30 minutes to beat 10-man Slough Town 5-1. The win - Torquay's third in five league games - moves them up to 11th place in National League South. Slough had new signing Dennis Adeniran sent off for a second yellow card just before half-time but still took the lead when former Torquay striker Saikou Janneh converted a 60th-minute penalty. But the Gulls roared back as substitute Matt Jay made it 1-1 two minutes later before fellow substitute Callum Morton gave the hosts a 69th-minute lead. Torquay put the game beyond Slough's reach in the final minutes with Jacob Beaumont-Clark making it 3-1 in the 87th minute before Luke Browne got a fourth in stoppage time and Beaumont-Clark fired in his second. "I'm proud of the team, proud of the players," Ball told BBC Radio Devon. "They did ever so well first half, tried things, asked loads and loads of questions, restricted the other team to I think one corner, I don't know if they had a shot. "We didn't get our noses in front but we needed patience then - when teams sit in, the attacking team has to make all the running so what you're always conscious of as a manager is when we have our lull, when we need our breather, is that we get through that little lull patch. "That was when the penalty came - about 10 minutes, 15 minutes into the second half." He added: "No-one can win a league with just 17 outfield players. You need a good squad, 20-21 outfielders, all fighting every day to play and staying fit because they want to play - and that's what we've had the last two weeks. "I think the last two weeks, you've seen two different performances but [it's] equally as pleasing for me that we can do it a different way, bring different people on the pitch to cause problems."
