The French international has been eased back into action by manager Jose Mourinho and has been gaining prominence in recent games, starting back-to-back in the derby against Atletico Madrid and Villarreal. Even though he has not always been at his best, the former AS Monaco star has been a key player under multiple managers at the Santiago Bernabeu. And a number of clubs from England were intent on signing him and explored the possibility of a deal. However, Real Madrid never had any intentions of selling Tchouameni, with the club considering him a key part of the project for the present and the future. Renewal until 2031 done As such, the Spanish capital club moved to renew the contract of the former Bordeaux wonderkid in the summer. While an official announcement has yet to be made by the club, Tchouameni’s new contract extension, which will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2031, is understood to be fully complete. However, so far this season, he has not looked at his best, while the double-pivot partnership with Valverde has clearly not worked as per plans. So, it will be interesting to see how Jose Mourinho changes things in the coming games and whether it impacts on Tchouameni’s playing time. What is clear is that Real Madrid continue to retain full faith in the midfielder and have secured his future in the long run after closing the doors on interest from several Premier League clubs in the future.
