Duran Gets 8.5, Baur With 8 | Celtic Players Rated In Their Win Against Motherwell After three successive defeats before the international break, Celtic were determined to bounce back this afternoon, as they travelled to Fir Park to clash heads with Motherwell. Camilo Duran netted within 10 minutes to hand them a perfect start, and the lead was doubled around the hour mark when Benjamin Nygren showed his composure to round Alex Paulsen in the Well goal. Below are the Celtic players rated in their 2-0 win against Motherwell. Viljami Sinisalo: 7 Made a couple of routine saves between the sticks and had little trouble securing a clean sheet on the road. Colby Donovan: 7 Was relentless with his overlapping runs, crosses, long balls and link-up play with Duran and Haissem Hassan. Also made an array of key recoveries and clearances to help the backline. Dane Murray: 7.5 Grabbed a rare start in Cameron Carter-Vickers’ absence. Martin O’Neill preferred him over Auston Trusty alongside Liam Scales to maintain the left-foot, right-foot combination, and the young academy graduate made the opportunity count with his calmness and concentration in deep defence. Liam Scales: 7.5 Was rock-solid at the back, as he hardly let the Motherwell attackers trouble Sinisalo in the last line of defence. Showed his passing expertise from the back, thus helping the Celts to build the game up from the back. Kieran Tierney: 7 Balanced his game between defence and attack. Besides making marauding runs to whip in crosses from the left, the Scotsman contributed defensively by winning duels and making timely interceptions. Was replaced by Jordan Lotomba with a few minutes remaining. Callum McGregor: 7.5 Was combative in the deep midfield, while the skipper primarily focused on marshalling the backline and engaging in duels, making recoveries and delivering no-nonsense clearances to relieve pressure. Made occasional forward runs to play passes into the final third. Primarily a ‘double pivot’ alongside McGregor, Baur operated box-to-box, showcasing his ability to orchestrate the game from the middle of the park. Camilo Duran: 8.5 Brilliant again with his flair, finesse and directness. Scored early in the game and challenged the hosts’ defensive set-up time and again. Was taken off for fellow wide attacking ace Haissem Hassan, who replaced him on the right. Benjamin Nygren: 8 Stepped up his game after a sloppy first half. Showed excellent composure to round the keeper for Celtic’s second of the afternoon. His lack of work rate can be questioned, but the Swedish ace is arguably their best finisher despite not being an outright forward. Subbed off for Oliver Sørensen with around 20 minutes remaining. Sebastian Tounekti: 7 Tried to cause menace with his dribbles, cutting inside to cross and shoot from the left-hand flank. However, his finishing and final deliveries remain a persistent problem since his move to Parkhead. Made way for Jota late in the game, with the Portuguese wideman making his first official appearance after a prolonged injury layoff. Kasper Hogh: 7.5 Struggled up top, as his efforts were either blocked or went off target. Lacking confidence since his mega-money transfer, and his limited work rate isn’t helping him build momentum. However, the assist for Nygren’s goal should boost his spirit ahead of the midweek European encounter with Benfica. Was replaced by Shumaira Mheuka around the 73rd-minute mark. Celtic Subs vs Motherwell Haissem Hassan: 6.5 Impressed with his pace and dribbling attempts despite limited touches down the flank. Shumaira Mheuka: 6.5 Looked lively with his movements high up the pitch. Jota: 6.5 Created a great scoring opportunity for Sorensen in the closing moments of the contest. Paulsen denied his header from the centre of the box in the top centre.
