Chelsea Remain Keen On Recruiting This Barcelona Defender: What Will He Bring To Stamford Bridge? In a recent report , Sport mentioned that Chelsea remain keen on recruiting Barcelona defender Jules Kounde. It has been claimed that the Blues are eyeing a move to secure the services of the French talent next year. Kounde’s Impressive Numbers In La Liga Kounde had a solid campaign with Barcelona recently as he managed to put in a run of impressive displays for them in La Liga. The France international found the back of the net three times and grabbed four assists in 47 matches for the Catalan giants last season across all fronts. The 27-year-old is currently one of the most talented defenders in La Liga. Hence, it is no wonder that the Blues are showing interest in bringing him to Stamford Bridge next year. His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Chelsea to land him on the cheap this January or at the end of this campaign. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well from the back. The French sensation can even chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team. Kounde is primarily a right-back but can also function as a centre-back if told to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can adapt to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to snap him up in 2027. We can expect Kounde to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years. At 27, Kounde is about to enter his prime, which makes him a worthy target for the West London club to pursue this January or at the end of this season. He will also help Chelsea challenge across all competitions over the next few seasons. Hence, Alonso should focus on going all out to land Kounde next year.
