Real Madrid send scouts to watch Liverpool star in action
Real Madrid send scouts to watch Liverpool star in action Real Madrid and Liverpool have been in a bit of a strained relationship with one another over the last few years. The two clubs have met in multiple Champions League finals, have targeted the same players and they've even eyed the same managers. However, every time they seem to go head-to-head, Los Blancos always seem to come out on top. For example, last season, the La Liga outfit prised Trent Alexander-Arnold away from Anfield for free and, this term, they did the same with Ibrahima Konate . Each of those players were worth millions to Liverpool and, thanks to their exits as free agents, the Reds have massively missed out. And, while the Reds' fans may have thought that they'd be getting a bit of respite from the Champions League winners, that seemingly isn't the case. Real Madrid scouted Florian Wirtz vs Manchester City Florian Wirtz 's £116 million transfer to Liverpool was one of the most talked-about sagas of the transfer window. Real Madrid, Liverpool and Bayern Munich were all eyeing a transfer for him and, in the end, the German chose the hardest option of the lot and wanted to give the Premier League a go. And, although most fans thought that Wirtz would be their creative spark after Alexander-Arnold exited, that has been far from the case. Last term, he contributed to 17 goals across all competitions with nine of them coming in the Premier League. This time around, with Andoni Iraola at the helm, things were supposed to be better but, in reality, they've gotten worse. However, Wirtz's poor form hasn't stopped clubs from showing an interest in signing him with TEAMtalk now sharing that Los Blancos sent their scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action during their 3-0 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday. "TEAMtalk understands that Barcelona and Real Madrid were both represented at Anfield on Sunday to watch Erling Haaland in action as one of four players under surveillance, as the Manchester City striker continues to attract serious interest from Spain’s two biggest clubs," they wrote . "Haaland’s camp have long harboured an ambition for the striker to play in Spain at some stage of his career. That does not mean a transfer is imminent, and sources stress that nor does it guarantee that either Barcelona or Real Madrid will be able to prise him away from Manchester City. "For now, both Spanish clubs are continuing to gather information rather than making a formal move. "Haaland was not the only player attracting attention from Spanish scouts at Anfield. Barcelona have also been monitoring Ronald Araujo’s situation, while Real Madrid have been checking on Liverpool midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Florian Wirtz ." Liverpool should only sell Florian Wirtz if they earn a profit on him At the moment, fans probably don't really care about what happens to Wirtz . During every game that he's featured in this season, the German has failed to impress. That is, despite him being used in his preferred number 10 position. Obviously, moving from the Bundesliga to the Premier League is going to take a lot of adjusting to but, over a year after joining Liverpool, you'd have expected to start seeing some sort of decent return. With Jurgen Klopp now Germany's manager, things may change but, if they don't, Liverpool may look at moving Wirtz on. However, they should only do this if they can make a profit on him as, even though he hasn't performed all that well over the last few years, he clearly has plenty of potential and, since he's only 23 years old, there is a lot of time for him to meet expectations. Here's hoping that Wirtz either figures things out or Real Madrid turn their interest into a profitable deal.
