🤬 Lisandro Martínez hits out: We need to look at the manager Lisandro Martínez lashed out after Manchester United’s defeat to Atlético in comments to Amazon. Highly critical of the club’s sporting strategy, the Argentine defender warned: “We had a fantastic season last season, and now we expect more from those at the top.” Asked whether the squad lacked Champions League quality and whether there had been insufficient investment in the summer, he was emphatic: “Yes, 100%.” Without mincing his words, the centre-back pointed the finger at the club’s hierarchy: “I expected more from our technical director...” Martínez sought to absolve the coaching staff of responsibility and instead took aim at the club’s management. “[Carrick] does the best he can... You can keep changing, changing, changing the manager, but what about the other areas? I can’t say any more,” he said bluntly. The defender ended his remarks by calling for a look beyond the pitch to find the causes of the crisis. “It’s easy to say the manager. It’s easy to say the players, but we also have to ‘look’ at others [who are to blame],” he stressed in the interview. The centre-back’s words reveal a complete rift between the dressing room and Manchester United’s sporting leadership. The European setback not only makes the season more difficult on the pitch but also sparks an institutional firestorm at Old Trafford.
