‘Super dumb’: Michael Olise suspended for Arsenal clash after throwing ball at opponent’s face
Michael Olise will be suspended for Bayern Munich ’s Champions League clash with Arsenal after he was sent off for throwing the ball into an opponent’s face during the 3-3 draw at Norwegian side Viking. The France international received two yellow cards in the space of a few seconds after he followed up a professional foul by chucking the ball into the face of Viking captain Zlatko Tripic, and will now miss next week’s clash against the Premier League champions. Bayern had recovered from two goals down to lead Viking 3-2, following a brace from Harry Kane and another from Luis Diaz, but the Norwegian champions were able to claim a famous draw following Olise’s sending off when substitute Herman Haugen grabbed the equaliser. “It was our own fault,” Bayern boss Vincent Kompany said. “This red card was super dumb... you can see in [Michael's] eyes that he's sorry about it and that he regrets letting the team down." Elsewhere, Anthony Gordon scored his first Champions League goal for Barcelona as they came from behind to beat Galatasaray 4-1 in Istanbul. Hansi Flick’s side had looked in serious trouble in Turkey when they went behind to a first-half goal from Aleksey Batrakov, but they hit back through Joao Cancelo just before the break. Fermin Lopez put the visitors into the lead five minutes after the restart before Gordon gave Barca breathing room. Karim Adeyemi smashed across goal and into the bottom corner to end the game as a contest in the 65th minute. Club Brugge won a thrilling game 4-3 away against Inter Milan, RB Leipzig beat PSV Eindhoven 1-0 and Villarreal were 3-1 winners at home to Napoli. Sporting Lisbon won 2-0 away at Lens and Azerbaijani side Sabah got their first Champions League win, 2-0 at home to Slavia Prague. Includes reporting from PA
