‘We deserved a better result’ Mauro Junior frustrated with PSV’s Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig

‘We deserved a better result’ Mauro Junior frustrated with PSV’s Champions League defeat to RB Leipzig PSV lost their second game in the Champions League as they fell 1-0 away from home to RB Leipzig. Ivan Perisic first half penalty was saved by Belgian goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, a costly mistake as a solitary goal from Brajan Gruda with 15 minutes to go in the second half proved to be decisive. After drawing their opening game of the competition 1-1 with Shakthar Donetsk, a defeat see’s PSV now having to get a win in their next game if they want to remain in contention for qualification to the next phase. Speaking to ESPN after the game, PSV captain Mauro Junior felt that his side deserved more out of the game. Junior said ‘ We created chances, and you have to finish them at this level, but we deserved a better result ‘. While the result went against them, the performance will give PSV some confidence going into the rest of the competition. Next up is another tricky away game with Porto, with the Portuguese giants yet to lose in the league this season. They then face Belgian champions Club Brugge at home. They then face Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Viking and VfB Stuttgart to see out the league phase. One would imagine that PSV will need to get wins against Club Brugge and Viking at least, with a few draws elsewhere to have a chance of progression. GBeNeFN  |  Ben Jackson
