Le Havre respond to Lille’s strongly-worded Tiago Santos statement
Le Havre respond to Lille’s strongly-worded Tiago Santos statement Lille OSC announced that their defender, Tiago Santos (24) had sustained an ACL injury from an Amir Richardson tackle that went unpunished by the referee. It was a very strongly-worded statement, which added that the club would consider potential legal action. “ LOSC are exploring all possible legal avenues and reserves the right to take any legal action necessary to obtain compensation for its losses. It will support Tiago in any steps he decides to take to defend his rights ,” said the club. In a debrief of refereeing decisions over the weekend, the refereeing body stated that Richardson should have been sanctioned for the foul, although they hastened to add that the injury that results from a tackle is not the sole dictator of the sanction for it. “The Le Havre player intervened without speed or brutality,” read the review. Le Havre have responded to LOSC’s intial statement, stating that they offer their “sincere and total support” to Santos, who, having suffered his second ACL injury in just the last couple of years, is now expected to miss the vast majority if not all of the season. However, Les Ciel et Marines also sought to highlight that the referee and the VAR both deemed that it was not necessary to sanction Richardson for the foul. Le HAC also questioned LOSC’s attempts to go through the FFF and the LFP in order to obtain a sanction for their midfielder. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
