Rodri identifies Barcelona’s weakness despite 4-1 Champions League win over Galatasaray: ‘The message is clear…’ Barcelona may be enjoying an impressive run of form, but Rodri believes Hansi Flick’s side still has important lessons to learn if they want to compete for the Champions League trophy. Following Barça’s 4-1 victory over Galatasaray in Istanbul, the midfielder warned that the team must improve their decision-making in possession, particularly when opponents are ready to launch quick counter-attacks.  Despite the convincing final scoreline, Barcelona endured a difficult spell after conceding first and were fortunate to see a potential second Galatasaray goal ruled out by VAR. Rodri said these moments are a reminder that Barcelona cannot afford to lose their composure against Europe’s strongest sides. Rodri warns Barcelona about counter-attacks Speaking after the match, Rodri stressed that Barcelona must learn when to accelerate their attacks and when to keep the ball moving patiently, especially against opponents capable of exploiting turnovers. “Perhaps today I was trying to tell them to attack more slowly because, ultimately, if you lose possession, they’ll break quickly,” explained Rodri, as per SPORT . The midfielder pointed to Galatasaray’s efficiency in front of goal as another concern, arguing that Barcelona must be more alert when defending transitions. “We know that when we play in Europe there are certain things we need to watch out for. For example, their first chance went in.  Rodri highlighted Barcelona’s inability to stop quick counter attacks. The potential 2-0 goal that was disallowed proved particularly significant.  Rodri believes Barcelona must respond more calmly when matches become chaotic rather than allowing opponents to gain momentum. “The message is clear: perhaps during those ten rather frantic minutes we’ve just been through, when we conceded the goal, we need to stay a little calmer. That’s the lesson we’ve learnt today, ” said Rodri. Barcelona must prepare for tougher European tests The midfielder also cautioned against assuming that Barcelona will always enjoy the same attacking success.  While their four goals in Istanbul demonstrated their quality, Rodri knows that Champions League matches can be decided by much smaller margins. “When the goals come, it allows you to enjoy it a bit more.  “We know it won’t always be like that and that, especially in the Champions League, the matches will be tough, and we have to be prepared for every eventuality: when we score, and when we don’t.”   Rodri praises Lamine and Barcelona’s attacking quality Lamine Yamal earned special praise from Rodri. (Photo by Burak Kara/Getty Images) Meanwhile, Rodri was also full of praise for Lamine Yamal and Anthony Gordon, who made important contributions to Barcelona’s attacking display. “Lamine has been spectacular, as has Anthony; they give us that extra edge that every team needs to make a difference, and they’re always ready to help,” he said. Asked about Yamal’s dazzling dribble , Rodri joked about the possibility of good fortune playing a part but defended the winger’s willingness to take on defenders. “We were telling him he’d got a bit lucky there, but in the end you’ve got to go for it; he always looks to take on his man one-on-one.” Rodri reserved his final comments for the atmosphere in Istanbul, admitting that Galatasaray’s supporters had left a lasting impression. “I’ve never experienced anything like this stadium: the atmosphere and the noise were incredible.  “I’ve played many matches in many stadiums and it’s hard for anything to surprise you, but today it did. Incredible fans,” he concluded.
