Barcelona make their best goalscoring start in a century after 4-1 thrashing of Galatasaray FC Barcelona have started the 2026/27 season at full throttle, with no sign of slowing down. Under Hansi Flick, the Blaugrana have recorded 10 wins from their 10 games so far in all competitions, with the latest one coming in the form of a 4-1 triumph over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League. In the process, the La Liga champions have scored a massive 43 goals already, showing prolific form in front of goal, while making history at the club. A goalscoring record not seen since 1926-27 According to journalist Oriol Jove, Barcelona have not scored as many goals in their first ten matches of a season since the 1926-27 campaign, when they found the net 47 times. Almost a century later, Flick’s team are approaching that historic mark with an outstanding start of their own. Their attacking output is evident in La Liga, where Barça have scored 34 goals in their opening eight matches, averaging 4.25 goals per game. They are the highest-scoring team across Europe’s major leagues. Their appetite for goals has also carried over into the Champions League. Following their match against Galatasaray, the Catalans have scored nine goals across their first two European fixtures. Ahead of Wednesday’s remaining Champions League matches, no team in the competition has scored more than Barcelona during the opening two rounds. Bayern Munich, one of Europe’s leading attacking sides, have managed eight goals, one fewer than the Catalans. Club Brugge and PSG follow with six each, while Sporting CP and Villarreal have scored five apiece. Barcelona’s attacking dominance is also reflected in their shooting statistics from those two European matches. They have attempted 44 shots, with 19 on target, 15 off target and 10 blocked. The numbers highlight the relentless pressure they have put on opposition defences and their determination to create chances throughout each game. Raphinha, who is recovering from a minor injury in his thigh, leads the team’s scoring charts with 14 goals. Lamine Yamal is next with eight, while Fermin Lopez has scored five times. Summer signings Karim Adeyemi has four goals, followed by Gabriel Jesus with three. Anthony Gordon and Joao Cancelo have each scored twice. Jules Kounde, Pedri and Xavi Espart have also found the net once apiece. With goals coming from across the squad, Barcelona have become difficult to contain. Their perfect record and exceptional scoring rate have established an early benchmark for the rest of Europe, as Flick’s side continue a start to the campaign that could rank among the most prolific in the club’s history.
