Jose Mourinho’s plan to help Real Madrid superstar recover his best version – report The hallmark of a great club is to stick with its players through thick and through thin, and Real Madrid find themselves in the second situation with Vinicius Jr. currently. Over the years, the Brazilian star has seen the highest of highs within Los Blancos and has been a pillar of the team, even scoring on the biggest nights like the UEFA Champions League finals. Now, however, he is at the lowest point in his career and is simply struggling for form. Beyond that, even fortune does not appear to be siding with him, and it thus becomes Real Madrid’s moral responsibility to back the player and bring him back to his best. Moreover, the player also knows that his being benched against Villarreal was very different from when he was benched under Xabi Alonso. He is not on the same level anymore, and he also knows that he has the manager’s backing. Mourinho’s role in Vinicius’ redemption arc The report further adds that Mourinho completely understands and acknowledges the importance of Vinicius Jr. in the dressing room, not only in a sporting sense but also as a cohesive link in terms of the emotional connection between players behind the scenes.  He understands why Carlo Ancelotti and Alvaro Arbeloa always looked to safeguard the player given his importance behind the scenes, and also has the player’s back completely. In that sense, Mourinho has recently pushed for changes in the player’s routine to help him get better and is personally overseeing the much-needed redemption. The Brazilian star also began staying late at the Valdebebas in the opening weeks of the season instead of going home, citing that the environment at the club facilities was calmer than that at home.  Mourinho intervened in that matter and spoke to Vinicius, making it clear that what the player did at home was as important as what he did in training, and is now looking to ensure the player has a peaceful environment all around. At this point, it is clear that Mourinho and Real Madrid are doing everything in their power to bring the player back to his best. Only time will tell if the efforts pay off.
