Barcelona could have a chance to sign Mexican wonderkid as he turns 18  Gilberto Mora, one of the most coveted Mexican talents to emerge in recent decades, has turned 18 years old today. The milestone is particularly significant because he can now sign for any European club, reports SPORT . All signs point towards a potential move across the Atlantic, with the Xolos de Tijuana attacking midfielder expected to attract serious interest from clubs in Europe.  Barcelona and Real Madrid are among his potential suitors, as reported a while ago . His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, will play a key role in determining his future. The Brazilian representative, who also manages players such as Erling Haaland, believes Mora is ready to make the step up to European football, although his camp wants to choose the right moment carefully.  “The big decision is when to do it. He has to be ready as a person,” Pimenta said in an interview with TUDN.  A history-maker for Mexico Since making his professional debut at 15 years and 10 months, Mora has repeatedly rewritten the record books in Mexican football.  Over the past year, Mora has established himself as one of the country’s brightest stars. His performances at this summer’s World Cup, co-hosted by his country, brought him to the attention of an even wider audience. A special talent. Mora holds several age-related records in his country. He became the youngest goalscorer in both Liga MX and the Mexican Cup, as well as the youngest player to win the MVP award in the tournament.  His achievements with the national team are equally impressive. He is Mexico’s youngest-ever debutant, goalscorer and assist provider.  These milestones have fuelled expectations that his development could soon take him beyond Mexican football and towards one of Europe’s major leagues.  Mora’s valuation could complicate a transfer Barcelona are interested in Mora. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty Images) Mora’s current market value stands at €25 million. However, Mexican media reports suggest that Xolos de Tijuana could demand between €50 million and €60 million for his signature.  Any club willing to pursue the midfielder would need to meet the financial demands and develop a clear plan to help him adapt to European football.  “He needs a plan for acclimatising to Europe,” Pimenta explained.  For Barcelona, signing a talent of Mora’s age and potential would fit their strategy of investing in players capable of making a difference over the medium and long term. Nevertheless, any deal would depend on the club’s sporting priorities and financial circumstances.
