Liverpool can't hide it anymore, the new Steven Gerrard is coming to join Andoni Iraola's Reds There's no point hiding it anymore, Liverpool have a new Steven Gerrard, and he will be joining the first-team soon. For over a decade, there's been this eternal yearning for the second coming of the former Reds great. Gerrard was an incredible footballer because he embodied everything great about the club. He was a leader, a fighter, and on top of that he was an incredible footballer. Nobody could strike the ball as well as him in the Premier League. Gerrard could score 40-yard screamers, he could ping passes from one end of the pitch to the other with perfection and at the same time he'd slide tackle players for fun. What made Gerrard so great is that he led by example and he could do whatever he wanted on the pitch. Nobody could compare to him, until recently... Liverpool's 'new Gerrards' over the year You could write an entire list of the players who were likened to Gerrard from the academy. Jay Spearing, Jordan Rossiter, Adam Phillips, Conor Coady. Even more recently players like Herbie Kane and Curtis Jones. Yet the closest to Gerrard at Liverpool wasn't someone developed at Kirkby but who came from RB Leipzig. So far Dominik Szoboszlai is the one who has lived up to those Gerrard comparisons the most. Although that doesn't mean he's the second coming of Gerrard. However, he does at least share a striking resemblance to the way Gerrard was able to shoot from set-piece situations and long range. Szoboszlai has been a worthy successor to the no.8 shirt at Liverpool. However, there is someone coming through who could be even better than him. Luca Eden is coming to Liverpool's first-team soon The comparisons between Gerrard and Eden are so eery it's quite remarkable. Sometimes when you're watching him play you have to scratch your eyes to make sure you're not hallucinating. Eden plays very much in the same way as Gerrard does. He's got this great tenacity and hunger. He plays the game with intensity. On top of that, he's also got a brilliant range. He can make an impact in the final third. This season he became the youngest player to score for Liverpool's U19 side, while he's still just 15-years-old. He has six goal contributions in six games for the Reds' U18 and U19 teams. At this rate, the form he is in, he won't be with the academy for long. He's very much coming towards Iraola's first-team and in the process the Reds will have found their new Gerrard.
