Lisandro Martinez’s future at Manchester United in doubt after public outburst directed at club’s hierarchy Lisandro Martinez’s future at Manchester United has been thrown into doubt after his recent public outburst at the club’s hierarchy . The Argentine dropped a bombshell interview on Tuesday following United’s 2-0 Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid. Martinez called out the club’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, for not supporting manager Michael Carrick in the transfer market. His comments have not gone down well with other players who are said to be angry and bemused at what he said. Martinez’s contract at Old Trafford will expire next summer, with the club having an option to extend it by another year. But as per Sky Sports , there are serious doubts about whether United will avail the option to extend his stay. The Red Devils are currently looking at new centre-backs and left-backs as they focus on revamping their defence in the next transfer windows. Martinez has been a key first-team player under Carrick this season, starting seven of the nine games in all competitions. The 28-year-old is an elite defender who is renowned for his exceptional passing range, composure under pressure and aggressive tackling. Since joining United in 2022, he has made 117 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals. But Martinez’s association with the Manchester club is expected to end in the summer after his stunning criticism of the club’s bosses.
