Le Mans midfielder Adil Bourabaa may undergo surgery and miss remainder of the year
Le Mans midfielder Adil Bourabaa may undergo surgery and miss remainder of the year Le Mans FC’s Adil Bourabaa (21) may be forced to undergo surgery and be sidelined for the rest of 2026, according to his manager Patrick Videira. Having sustained an ankle injury whilst on international duty with Algeria, the midfielder could therefore be out for longer than the four weeks initially suggested. “At the moment, the news isn’t reassuring,” Videira admitted at a press conference on Thursday, on the eve of the home match against Toulouse FC. “He may need an operation. He has seen various specialists, including ankle surgeons. We are awaiting their reports to decide on the best course of action for Adil.” Whilst a definitive diagnosis is expected next week, there are concerns that Bourabaa may have suffered a syndesmosis injury – damage to the ligaments connecting the tibia and fibula at the ankle. This is a major blow for the 21-year-old, who has enjoyed a dazzling start to the season (three goals and two assists in five matches), and for whom Videira has suggested he may be out until the end of the year. “It’s tough because it’s his first, so to speak, serious injury,” he explained. “We’re trying to be there for him and give him plenty of support. But yes, he’s asking himself a lot of questions – that’s only natural.” GFFN | Léo Aschi
