Premier League 2026/27 Matchday 7 predictions: Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur eager to kickstart their seasons
Premier League 2026/27 Matchday 7 predictions: Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur eager to kickstart their seasons The 2026/27 Premier League season continues apace this weekend with an enticing line-up of Matchday 7 fixtures. Several teams desperately need to start picking up victories, including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. Read on as we preview the upcoming round of matches. Everton vs Chelsea Everton and Chelsea sit just behind the top four in the table, but their performances have been wildly different this season. The Toffees have been steady rather than spectacular, while Chelsea have fluctuated between brilliance and abject disappointment. Their Matchday 7 meeting at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday should be an entertaining affair with plenty of goals. Fulham vs Hull City Newly-promoted Hull City have defied expectations this season, losing just one of their first six matches in the top-flight (W2, D3). By contrast, Fulham are bottom of the table with just two points, and new manager Alvaro Arbeloa is struggling to implement his tactical ideas. The home side are the bookmakers’ favourites to win, but Hull are a good bet to pick up at least a point this weekend. Manchester City vs Ipswich Town Manchester City ruthlessly dismantled Liverpool last weekend, before slipping to a 4-2 home defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League in midweek. Despite that setback, Enzo Maresca’s side are strongly fancied to return to winning ways against Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The Tractor Boys have conceded eight goals in three outings on the road this season and could struggle to keep City at bay. Prediction: Man City to win. Brentford vs Liverpool Brentford are one of three Premier League teams yet to lose this season (W2, D4) and they will fancy their chances against Liverpool on home soil. The Reds bounced back from their mauling against City by defeating LASK in the Champions League, but Brentford will be a tougher proposition. Brentford have conceded just one goal at home this season, and they should make life extremely difficult for the Reds this weekend. Newcastle United vs Aston Villa Newcastle United will relish the return to St James’ Park after suffering an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at Coventry City on Monday night. However, they are unlikely to find things easy against an Aston Villa team which has sparked into life following a slow start to the new campaign. Villa demolished Fenerbahce 6-0 in the Champions League in midweek and could cause the Magpies plenty of problems this weekend. Prediction: Villa to win. Brighton & Hove Albion vs Crystal Palace Given the distance between the two clubs, the ‘rivalry’ between Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace feels rather forced. Brighton will expect to come out on top having lost just once this season (W4, D1). However, Palace will be determined to take something from the game. Palace are unbeaten in their last four meetings with the Seagulls (W3, D1) and should pick up at least a point on the south coast. Prediction: Draw. Bournemouth vs Sunderland Having qualified for Europe at the end of last season, Bournemouth and Sunderland went into the new campaign with high hopes of enjoying another productive campaign. Things have not gone to plan, with both clubs currently languishing at the wrong end of the Premier League table . Bournemouth have yet to win, while Sunderland have recorded one victory. The Cherries were hammered by Chelsea last weekend and may struggle to shake off the scars of that result. Leeds United vs Manchester United Leeds United gave Arsenal a hard time at the Emirates Stadium last weekend before eventually succumbing to a 2-1 defeat. The Whites’ high-intensity style has delivered plenty of positive results this year, and it could pay dividends against Manchester United . The visitors have gone five games without a win in all competitions and need to improve significantly at Elland Road. Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal Defending champions Arsenal have returned in fine form after the international break and are expected to keep rolling at Nottingham Forest on Sunday. The Gunners have taken four points off Forest in each of the last two seasons (W2, D2), although neither victory was at the City Ground. Forest have struggled to produce their best form under new manager Oliver Glasner and could be set for another tough outing this weekend. Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City Tottenham Hotspur have yet to record a league victory this season, but have a golden opportunity to grab three points on Monday evening. Coventry City were excellent at home to Newcastle in their last outing and will hope to build on that result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Spurs produced a much-improved performance at Manchester United last weekend and can secure their first victory this term.
