Real Madrid’s appeal to reduce Vinicius Jr’s four-match ban rejected
Real Madrid’s appeal to reduce Vinicius Jr’s four-match ban rejected Vinicius Jr.’s suspension following his expulsion against Villarreal was confirmed earlier this week , and it was announced that the player would face a four-game sanction for his red card. Two of the games are attributed to the offence itself, while the additional two-game suspension is said to be for the player’s dramatic reaction to being sent off where he had to be controlled by his teammates. The club, unsurprisingly, went on to make an appeal to have the sanction cut short, but AS report that the effort has been futile. Appeal rejected Indeed, as reported by the Spanish outlet, the RFEF Appeals Committee has ratified the suspension of Vinicius Jr. and will not cut short the player’s punishment to any degree. The appeal from Real Madrid has been rejected straight away. Vinicius will miss four games. Real Madrid, for their part, will continue to try to have the situation reversed and are expected to take the case to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD). No permutation worked out Real Madrid made a combination of several appeals to have Vinicius’ punishment reduced, if not revoked, but none have been even considered. For starters, the club tried to have the two additional games for protesting cut out, but the Appeals Committee would not hear of it. A big chance for Yan Diomande. (Photo by Mateo Villalba Sanchez/Getty Images) They even attempted to have the punishment for the hair pulling itself reduced to one game, but even that has not worked out. The Appeals Committee have instead come out to openly back the referees and make it clear that all decisions taken were right, leaving Real Madrid with little to no hope of having the situation changed. Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho, thus, will have to reserve Vinicius for only the Champions League games for the next month until he returns against Celta Vigo. Meanwhile, Yan Diomande could serve as a starting option down the left flank and now has a massive chance to prove his worth to Mourinho.
