Real Madrid retain spot on La Liga Delegate Committee despite growing tensions
Real Madrid retain spot on La Liga Delegate Committee despite growing tensions Real Madrid have secured their place on La Liga’s Delegate Committee, ensuring the club will continue to participate in discussions over some of Spanish football’s most important decisions despite their ongoing dispute with league president Javier Tebas . La Liga has officially confirmed the composition of the committee, with Real Madrid among six clubs appointed to represent the top division. According to Mundo Deportivo , Real Sociedad have continued to support Madrid’s position, while Athletic Club have also backed the Spanish giants despite no longer having a place on the committee themselves. Real Madrid’s continued presence matters because the Delegate Committee discusses significant issues before they are taken to the clubs’ General Assembly, giving its members a role in influencing the league’s decision-making process. Real Madrid retain influential position in La Liga governance It must be remembered that Real Madrid returned to the committee in 2024 with support from Valladolid and Real Sociedad. Now, their latest appointment ensures that the club will retain its place despite tensions with Tebas. Real Madrid have retained a spot on La Liga’s Delegate Committee. Explaining the appointments, La Liga said: “As the number of nominations submitted matched the six seats allocated to LaLiga EA Sports, the clubs have been appointed as members of the Delegate Committee without the need for a vote.” The appointment process therefore did not require an election, as the number of candidates matched the available positions. Sociedad and Athletic back Madrid’s committee presence As stated before, Real Sociedad’s continued support has helped Real Madrid maintain their representation, while Athletic Club have also backed Los Blancos . Remaining on the committee allows Madrid to retain a seat in discussions on matters that may subsequently reach the league’s General Assembly. Atletico and Eibar officials appointed as La Liga vice-presidents La Liga has also confirmed changes to its leadership, with Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin appointed as First Vice-President and Eibar director Ion Ander Ulazia named Second Vice-President. The league confirmed that neither appointment required a vote because only one candidate was submitted for each vacancy. “Miguel Angel Gil Marin, chief executive of Club Atletico de Madrid, has been appointed First Vice-President of LaLiga, whilst Ion Ander Ulazia, director of SD Eibar, will take up the post of Second Vice-President. “In both cases, as only one candidate was put forward for each of the vacancies, they have been appointed directly without the need for a vote,” the statement concluded.
