Arsenal away kit debut wait goes on – for now
Arsenal away kit debut wait goes on – for now Arsenal are set to wear their third kit against Nottingham Forest this weekend, meaning the wait for the new away kit’s men’s competitive debut is set to continue. The Gunners debuted the third kit away to Aston Villa in August, before wearing it again for the game against Sunderland in September. Mikel Arteta’s side came out on top on both occasions, so the new kit has a 100% record in competitive men’s fixtures so far. But the choice of kit for this weekend does mean the wait for the away kit’s debut is set to continue. Photo by Maurizio Lagana/Getty Images Other than the two matches Arsenal have played in the third kit, the only time they’ve worn anything other than the standard home kit this season was when they wore red shorts for the match away to Napoli . The only time the team has worn the new away kit was the very first friendly of pre-season, a 4-1 win over Girona . Sunday’s game seemed like a good opportunity for the away kit’s competitive debut. Nottingham Forest wear red and white at home, so an all-blue kit with yellow accents and just a tiny dash of red wouldn’t cause a clash. But it seems it’s not to be. Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images Arsenal do have plenty of away games coming up, including a trip to face fellow red team Bayern Munich in midweek. There’s also the trip away to red-and-white side Fleetwood Town at the end of the month, another red team in Liverpool to kick off November, then another red-and-white team in Slavia Praha after that. So the wait goes on for now, but if the Gunners still haven’t worn the new away kit by the November international break, it would be a real surprise. Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images
