Real Madrid star could return to squad after 181 days as Mourinho considers recall vs Sevilla

Real Madrid star could return to squad after 181 days as Mourinho considers recall vs Sevilla After pulling off a sensational 4-3 comeback win over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, Real Madrid are back in action on Sunday, this time in La Liga, as they take on Sevilla. The Merengues have already fallen six points behind leaders FC Barcelona in the league standings and have absolutely no room for error as they face Luis Garcia Plaza’s men at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night. Vinicius Jr.’s absence due to a four-match suspension comes as a big blow for Jose Mourinho & co., but there may be some good news as a long-term absentee could return. Eder Militao to come back? Indeed, according to journalist Sergio Quirante , Eder Militao could be in line to make a return to the Real Madrid squad after a long absence of 181 days. The Brazilian defender has been out of action since April earlier this year after suffering a serious hamstring injury, that required him to undergo surgery. Eder Militao is set to return. However, Mourinho exercised caution with the 28-year-old defender and decided against calling him up for the two matches against Villarreal and AS Roma. That could now change, though, as the Portuguese tactician is now considering calling Militao up for the weekend clash against Sevilla. A welcome boost While Militao will not return to start games right away, his impending comeback to the squad comes as a major boost for Real Madrid. Militao’s comeback welcome boost for Real Madrid. The 28-year-old centre-half has been out for more than 700 days during the past three seasons due to injuries. So, it will not come as a surprise to see Mourinho and the staff proceed with caution. However, there is now a good possibility that Militao could be in the squad to face Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday night. It would leave Rodrygo Goes and Raul Asencio as the only injury-enforced absentees, with Ferland Mendy also back in training and closer to a comeback.
