David Moyes provides Everton contract update after club put up for sale

David Moyes admits discussions over a new contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium have gone quiet following news the club could be up for sale . Everton’s owners The Friedkin Group announced last week they were exploring the possibility of selling their controlling interest in the Merseyside outfit. Toffees manager Moyes is in the final year of his deal and the Scot is not expecting imminent developments on fresh terms. Moyes said at a press conference: “There’s been plenty of talks happening through the summer but maybe with the way things have gone at the moment, there’s maybe been a bit of a lull, trying to get things in order. “But like I’ve said many times, it’s not the most important thing for me. I just want to keep trying to drive Everton on and build them up, and see if we can continue to improve.” Moyes returned to Everton in January 2025, steering them clear of relegation during their final year at Goodison Park before earning them a 13th-place finish last term. Everton are unbeaten in the Premier League so far this term, sitting in fifth place after six games, and host Chelsea on Saturday. Moyes said: “Anytime I’ve played Chelsea, it’s always been a good game. It was always tough. “But we will do our best. We’re in quite a good place. We’ve been playing well ourselves.” PA
