Barcelona president attacks Real Madrid by defending Javier Tebas amid severe tension: ‘Lucky to have him as La Liga president’
Barcelona president attacks Real Madrid by defending Javier Tebas amid severe tension: ‘Lucky to have him as La Liga president’ Barcelona president Joan Laporta has launched a strong attack on Real Madrid amid their dispute with La Liga president Javier Tebas. He has accused Los Blancos of attempting to destabilise Spanish football while offering an extraordinary defence of Tebas. As quoted by SPORT , Laporta made the remarks ahead of Barcelona’s match against Real Betis. Laporta openly backs Tebas against Real Madrid Madrid have taken exception to Tebas’ controversial comparison of Real Madrid TV’s communication methods with Nazi-era propaganda techniques. “We are so lucky to have Javier Tebas as La Liga president. He knows how to fight these Real Madrid attacks,” Laporta declared. “Real Madrid want to blow up everything! They want to blow up La Liga, they want to blow up the Refereeing Committee (CTA)… They’re not happy with the Spanish Federation either. They’re not happy with anything,” he continued. He then added another pointed remark, “I care very little about what Real Madrid do, if anything at all. As long as they don’t interfere with Barca.” Madrid’s dispute with Tebas continues Laporta’s comments come as tensions continue to rise over Tebas’ comparison of Real Madrid TV’s communication methods with propaganda techniques associated with Joseph Goebbels. Madrid have demanded Tebas’ resignation, while the La Liga president has defended his remarks, insisting he was criticising communication methods rather than Madrid supporters or their beliefs. Laporta has now publicly sided with Tebas, adding another dimension to an already heated confrontation. Laporta’s criticism overlooks Madrid’s legitimate concerns Real Madrid have every right to question refereeing decisions, fixture scheduling and the conduct of football authorities. Whether those complaints are justified should be determined through evidence and transparent procedures, not dismissed simply because Madrid are unhappy with certain decisions. Laporta’s words are particularly interesting considering Barca’s past relationship with La Liga. (Photo by LLUIS GENE/AFP via Getty Images) Laporta’s suggestion that Madrid are inventing excuses is a lazy argument that does little to improve the institution. A club can struggle on the pitch while still raising legitimate concerns about how the competition is governed. What makes Laporta’s words particularly interesting is his willingness to defend Tebas despite Barcelona’s own history of disagreements with the La Liga president. It remains to be seen how Madrid respond to these statements from the Barça president and how the situation develops.
