Barcelona defender a doubt for PSG clash as he undergoes tests after fresh injury vs Real Betis Jules Kounde was one of three Barcelona players to have picked up an injury during the team’s 5-2 win over Real Betis. The Frenchman ended the game with discomfort and was deemed a doubt heading into the midweek clash against Paris Saint-Germain. Barcelona’s subsequent flight delay wasn’t helpful either, as the team only landed back in Catalonia during the second half of the day. The Frenchman went directly to the club’s medical centre after landing in Barcelona, without going to the dressing room. It has been reported that Barcelona players were instructed to only do routine gymwork following their delayed arrival in the city. Kounde, to that end, directly went to the medical centre and it appears the defender will now undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury. A big blow for Barcelona Flick faces a potential selection dilemma heading into the PSG game. It must be noted that Eric Garcia and Gerard Martin had also picked up knocks in the same match, though it appears the latter is likely to make the PSG clash in time. Kounde’s absence, nevertheless, will devoid Hansi Flick with versatile defensive option, and the German could be forced to stick with Martin in central defence alongside Pau Cubarsi. The next few hours, report, notes could be critical as Barcelona determine whether or not Kounde will be fit enough to travel to Paris on Monday, after which Flick has planned a training session in the evening. The same applies to Garcia as well, and there is still a possibility both the players could end up missing tomorrow’s trip to Paris. This comes at a time when Flick is already missing Andreas Christensen due to an injury picked up earlier in the campaign.
