Liverpool given golden chance to sign £40m star

Liverpool given golden chance to sign £40m star Liverpool are currently ninth in the Premier League table. The Anfield outfit are arguably doing worse than they did last term under Arne Slot despite them finishing fifth in England's top flight last time around. Indeed, until last Sunday, the Reds were unbeaten across all competitions but, thanks to the performance that Manchester City put in, Liverpool were no match for them. Before the 2026-27 season even properly kicked off, everyone knew that Liverpool were going to need to make a lot of additions to their squad. And, while four new players were brought in, it still wasn't enough so, the fact that they've now been handed a chance to acquire the services of a long-term target is rather exciting. Juventus want Daniel Banjaqui so Pierre Kalulu could end up on the transfer market Andoni Iraola may have had two new defenders added to his first-team squad over the summer but, more change is still needed. Ronald Araujo's deal is only a season-long loan, and, with nobody knowing what Virgil van Dijk's plans are yet, Liverpool's back-line could end up rather weak by the end of the current campaign. Obviously, before the next summer transfer window comes around, Liverpool have January to think about. And, even though it's months away yet, fans have already began speculating about which players could be brought in. Many different players from all sorts of clubs have been linked but now, thanks to an update from TuttoJuve, Liverpool may have just been given a golden chance to finally sign Pierre Kalulu . "Juventus is looking to the future and has set its sights on Daniel Banjaqui, a promising right-back from Benfica," they wrote . "The Portuguese, just 18 years old, has reportedly been included in the list of young talents being monitored by the Bianconeri management, according to tuttojuve.com. "Competition, however, is already fierce: Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and other major European clubs are reportedly interested in the defender. "This could prove complicated, especially if an international auction were to ensue. "Juventus continues to monitor the international market for young players who represent significant investments for the future. Among the names under observation is Daniel Banjaqui, a 2008-born right-back from Benfica. "The young Portuguese player is reportedly among the profiles being evaluated by the Bianconeri to strengthen their right flank." Why Juventus signing Daniel Banjaqui could allow Liverpool to sign Pierre Kalulu Before Araujo was brought in, Kalulu was one of the top names on Liverpool's shortlist. The Portuguese right-back burst onto the scene with Jose Mourinho last season and, since then, he's made Benfica's right-back spot his own. Banjaqui is only 18 years old so there are many parts of his game that are still raw, but, from the performances he's put on display so far, he looks like the real deal. TuttoJuve claim that Liverpool also want Banjaqui and, while the youngster would align with Liverpool's recent transfer strategy, signing someone such as Kalulu makes a lot of sense. The Frenchman is 26 years old and has plenty of experience in some of Europe's top leagues. His natural position may be at centre-back but, throughout his career, he's also been used at right-back and, in this day and age, versatility is key. Kalulu's asking price is worth around £40 million and, although that may seem like a lot, for a player of his quality, it feels like a steal.
