Getafe eyeing deal for Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos after securing Dani Carvajal
Getafe eyeing deal for Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos after securing Dani Carvajal Getafe president Angel Torres has confirmed that the club could pursue a deal for Sergio Ramos after holding talks with the defender’s representatives. However, a move for the former Real Madrid captain is not currently a priority. The Spanish side recently signed Dani Carvajal, and they are keeping the door open to another reunion involving a former Real Madrid star. Speaking to Radio Nacional de Espana’s Tablero Deportivo programme on Sunday, Torres revealed that he had spoken to Rene Ramos, Sergio’s brother and agent. They discussed the possibility of bringing the experienced former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain centre-back to Getafe. However, manager Jose Bordalas is prioritising reinforcements elsewhere, with the club looking to strengthen its options out wide first. “We have been pursuing this for some time, but it was not the priority. The priority was to get wingers,” Torres explained (via Marca ). He added that Getafe currently have six centre-backs available, meaning there might be no need to strengthen that department. Nevertheless, the club have not ruled out a move for Ramos, and the situation could be revisited if their recruitment plans change. Ramos remains without a club after leaving Mexican outfit Monterrey at the end of 2025. The 40-year-old defender last featured competitively on December 6, 2025, when Monterrey suffered a 3-2 defeat to Toluca in the Apertura tournament semi-finals. A return to Spanish football with Getafe would give the former Real Madrid captain a chance to continue his career closer to home, potentially reuniting with Carvajal. The pair enjoyed considerable success together at the Santiago Bernabeu, winning multiple major honours during their time with Los Blancos. Carvajal has signed a contract with Getafe until June 2027 to bolster their ranks as they compete on multiple fronts. Interestingly, Getafe are also considering a move for Jadon Sancho . The former Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund star is a free agent, like Ramos.
