Cristiano Ronaldo receives 30-day suspension and £215 fine for walking out on Portugal squad The Portuguese Football Federation have punished Cristiano Ronaldo after the forward left the national team camp during the international break. The federation has fined Ronaldo a measly £215 and suspended him for 30 days. They released a statement that read : “It was decided to impose a 30-day suspension, in addition to a financial fine of 2.5 accounting units, equivalent to 255 euros (two hundred and fifty-five euros).” However, the federation did not specify which games the suspension would cover, or whether time already served would count towards the 30-day sanction. Ronaldo made headlines after suddenly leaving his country’s Nations League camp following a rift with manager Jorge Jesus. He later apologised for his behaviour , but accused Jesus of twice breaking his word to him. Per Ronaldo, the Portugal coach had agreed a plan under which he would miss the away fixtures against Norway and Denmark. However, on the morning of the Norway game, Jesus told him he would play for half an hour. Ronaldo kept warming up but was never brought off the bench. The former Real Madrid star was also unhappy that Jesus presented a completely different version of events to the media after agreeing to clarify things at his press conference. Ronaldo has earned 234 caps for Portugal, scoring 146 goals in the process. But he is a fading force, with his performances at the summer World Cup sparking massive criticism from fans.
