Andoni Iraola may have just stumbled upon Liverpool's next Trent Alexander-Arnold

Andoni Iraola may have just stumbled upon Liverpool's next Trent Alexander-Arnold Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the biggest-named players to have exited Liverpool over the last couple of years. Fans expected the L4 academy graduate to stay with the Reds forever, much like Steven Gerrard . However, that clearly wasn't meant to be as, for one reason or another, the defender chose to join Real Madrid as a free agent at the start of the 2025-26 season. This led to Jeremie Frimpong being brought in as his successor but, even after being at the club for over a year now, it's clear that he's no match for Alexander-Arnold. Indeed, Conor Bradley is another option that they could explore but, since he's been out injured for a fair few months now, it's unclear how good he'll be when he returns. But, fortunately for Andoni Iraola, another option for right-back could be about to emerge that isn't Ronald Araujo. Victor Munoz could be moved to right-back out of necessity Victor Munoz has been a bit of a surprise package for Liverpool this season. The attacker was the first player that Iraola signed during his reign and, for £35 million, he felt like an absolute steal, especially in this market. However, most people expected him to be more of a back-up than anything else, especially since it was clear that either Yan Diomande or Bradley Barcola were going to be brought in. In the end, Barcola and Munoz were the two players that Liverpool signed and, while it took some time for them to both find their feet, they're now regular features in Iraola's plans. But, as the season goes on, there are likely to be more injuries occurring which could lead to players being used out of position. And, while this would usually be a bad thing, for some such as Alexander-Arnold, it made his career. So, the fact that Munoz has made the right-wing spot his own while Cody Gakpo has been injured may cause a problem That is, unless he's moved to right-back so that he can become the Reds' creative spark on the right, much like Alexander-Arnold was during his time at Anfield. Victor Munoz could become an incredibly important player for Liverpool As mentioned, with Gakpo out, Munoz has been handed a more regular role by Iraola. However, as with every season, Liverpool are bound to suffer a fair few injuries at one point or another so, having players who can cover more than one position is vital. Obviously, changing from an attacking-right winger to a full-back would be a huge change but, when Alexander-Arnold started off as a central midfielder, he probably never expected to be morphed into one of the world's best right-backs. In fact, most Liverpool fans probably never expected one of their academy midfielders to become so important to them. But, he did and, for Munoz, if he continues in this run of form and gives 100% wherever he's played, great things could happen. There's no knowing what plans Iraola has for his team when everyone is fit but, for now, if Munoz can stay in this purple patch of form, he'll do himself the world of good.
