Arkema Première Ligue week 5 results: Lyon spoil PSG’s party, Paris FC nab second spot
Arkema Première Ligue week 5 results: Lyon spoil PSG’s party, Paris FC nab second spot Week 5 of the Arkema Première Ligue took place this weekend following a short international break. PSG crumbled against a dominant Lyon side at the Parc des Princes. Paris FC snatched their second place, while Marseille are now winless in three games. Several clubs marked Breast Cancer Awareness Month, known as ‘Pink October’ in France, with Les Marseillaises, RC Lens and Nantes unveiling special pink kits. Here’s what went down in another exciting weekend of French football. Off-pitch statement does not spare PSG from Lyon The stage was set. To mark ‘Pink October,’ PSG invited French-Cape Verdean R&B star Ronisia to perform before their showdown against Lyon at the Parc des Princes. With more than 13,000 fans in the stands, PSG made a statement about their women’s team still being part of the club’s strategy. The attendance was key given the growing competition for attention in the vicinity, with Paris FC having also drawn more than 11,000 spectators for their UWCL clash against Arsenal a couple weeks ago. After a disappointing third-place finish in the league and an early European exit last season, questions remained over PSG’s ambitions in the women’s game. The lack of major signings this summer did little to suggest a revival. However, a promising start to the new campaign, both domestically and in Europe, raised hopes ahead of the showdown with Lyon. But, just like last May’s French Cup final (4-1) , the Fenottes handed the Parisians a proper beating this weekend (0-4). View this post on Instagram The league’s top scorer, Melchie Dumornay, needed little time to open the scoring, netting her eighth goal of the season to put Lyon ahead. Marie-Antoinette Katoto’s header then gave them a two-goal lead before half-time. PSG’s all-time leading scorer, with 178 goals in 222 appearances, scored against her former club for the first time since joining Lyon in the summer of 2025. The start of the second half was all about Salma Paralluelo. OL Lyonnes’ new star drove through the half-space before squaring the ball for Vicki Becho to finish. The Spaniard then got on the scoresheet herself with a poacher’s finish inside the box. Lyon stomp on Parisians who failed to register a single shot on target. Jonatan Giráldez’s side now sit top of the APL table, having beaten PSG for the 11th time in a row. Another all-round performance from Paris FC Paris FC capitalised on PSG’s defeat to move into second place, beating Toulouse and edging ahead on goal difference (+5 to +3). Océane Picard curled a superb free kick into the net from just outside the box before captain Clara Matéo’s header gave Sandrine Soubeyrand’s side a two-goal lead before half-time. After the break, Canada international striker Evelyne Viens and Colombian prospect Karla Torres, who converted from the spot, completed a commanding win in Toulouse (0-4). Paris FC’s form contrasts sharply with that of promoted Toulouse, who remain bottom of the APL. View this post on Instagram Les Marseillaises hang onto a point Les Marseillaises salvage a point at home. Hosting top four hopefuls Fleury, Emily Burns frustrated their forwards throughout the first half. The Canadian goalkeeper superbly kept out close-range efforts from former WSL forwards Shana Chossenotte and Louna Ribadeira. But both eventually found a way through after the break, with Chelsea loanee Ribadeira setting up Chossenotte for Fleury’s opener. Naomi Bamenga responded with a powerful header to level for Marseille in the final fifteen minutes, only for the hosts to fall behind again when former academy player Cindy Caputo coolly converted a penalty. Then, deep into stoppage time, Charlotte Fernandes turned the ball into her own net helping Marseille snatch a point (2-2). After three consecutive draws, they already have to look behind rather than ahead if they want to hold on to their play-off spot. Fleury sit ninth and will regret missing the chance to climb the table. Rouquet back in the groove for Montpellier Montpellier can finally count on Justine Rouquet. Having returned from the U20 World Cup before the senior international break, the rising French star needed a second game to find her feet again. Twenty minutes in, she finished off a beautiful through ball over the defence from Ella Palis. Despite being outplayed, Le Havre found an equaliser through Solène Champagnac’s penalty in the second half (1-1). Both sides remain in mid-table. View this post on Instagram Nantes finally grab first win Nantes claimed their first win of the season with two early goals away to Saint-Malo. Victoria Krug and Madeline Roth put the visitors two goals up inside the opening ten minutes. Paris FC loanee goalkeeper Inès Marques kept Saint-Malo in the game, saving Adèle Connesson’s long-range strike and denying Wu Chengshu from close range. But her red card for handling the ball outside her box late in the second half left the hosts a player down. Nantes were kind enough to leave it at that (0-2), as last season’s surprise playoff contenders can finally celebrate three points.. Strasbourg punish ten-woman Lens Lens looked to be cruising towards their first win of the season thanks to Célia Aggoune’s stunning opener. Played in deep down the sideline, the Algeria international found a way through, lobbing the goalkeeper from a tight angle. But Julia Evrard’s red card for a dangerous tackle complicated the scenario for the hosts with 20 minutes remaining. Strasbourg seized their chance in a matter of minutes. Laurine Hannequin’s clean strike sparked the comeback before Kristin Kögel converted a penalty five minutes later. On the next attack, Hannequin then set up Natalia Wróbel to put the game beyond Lens. Strasbourg returned to winning ways after three games without a victory (1-3), while Lens remain stuck in the relegation zone.
