PSG overcome injury blows to beat Barcelona in six-goal thriller

Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz struck late goals to help PSG secure a 4-2 victory over Barcelona in a thrilling contest at the Parc des Princes. Vitinha produced a brilliant finish from just outside the area in the 81st minute, moments after Lamine Yamal had brought Barcelona level, before Ruiz made sure of the result shortly before the final whistle to keep PSG at the top of the league phase on goal difference. Desire Doue had given PSG a first-half lead, before Xavi Espart equalised 10 minutes after the interval. Lucas Hernandez restored PSG’s advantage in the 72nd minute, but Yamal looked like he might have rescued a point with his late strike. That proved to be false hope for Barcelona, as Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz stepped up to punish Barcelona’s fragile defence. It was a statement win for defending champions PSG, who had to deal with injuries to Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the game. Both stars limped off, but Luis Enrique’s side still had too much for Barcelona in the French capital. More to follow...
