PSV secure hard-earned victory over winless Porto

The Dutch visitors took a 57th-minute lead when they got in down the right and Guus Til was at the back post to convert Sven Mijnans' shot, which was trickling wide. Porto, who lost their opening two games - 2-0 at home to Manchester City and 3-2 at Real Betis - pushed for a late equaliser. In second-half injury time, Pepe fired wide for the hosts, Hwang In-beom had an effort blocked and Alberto Costa's header was saved by Matej Kovar. But PSV will feel they deserved their three points as they hit the woodwork through Filip Kostic and then Esmir Bajraktarevic when the match was goalless. Porto have won all eight of their Primeira Liga matches and are top of the table domestically, but they sit 33rd in the 36-team Champions League standings. PSV, with four points from three games, entertain Club Brugge on Wednesday, 4 November, with Porto at home to Napoli on the same night.
