Vinicius Junior’s representatives reveal how Arsenal tried to sign Real Madrid star

Vinicius Junior’s representatives reveal how Arsenal tried to sign Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior seriously considered joining Arsenal before signing a new contract with Real Madrid. That’s according to senior figures at Roc Nation Sports International, the agency representing the Brazilian winger. The agency’s director of African football recruitment, Grant Veitch, and president, Michael Yormack, confirmed that Arsenal made an aggressive attempt to bring the 26-year-old to the Premier League . However, they explained that his strong connection with Madrid and desire to win more trophies ultimately influenced his decision. Vinicius ended the transfer speculation in August by signing a new contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2032. Madrid announced the extension on August 6 but did not reveal the financial details. Veitch believes the winger’s long-standing relationship with the Spanish giants played a major role in his decision to stay. Vinicius joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 as an 18-year-old and has since become one of the best players in the world. He has scored 129 goals and provided 103 assists in 375 appearances and won 14 trophies, including three LaLiga titles and two Champions League crowns. Veitch believes the Brazilian is comfortable at Madrid and wants to continue building his legacy there. “There were other opportunities that arose,” Veitch told SportsBoom . “But I think the comfort level of him being there since such a young age and wanting to build up his reputation and wanting to continue that and win more titles with Real Madrid, that’s the main reason he’s stayed.” Yormack also admitted Arsenal’s interest was genuine, revealing that Mikel Arteta’s side made the player feel wanted. “You saw the news; Arsenal was very involved. They were very aggressive,” he said. “Did he ever seriously consider Arsenal? I mean, of course. When a team like Arsenal rolls out the red carpet for you and makes you feel really wanted, then obviously you have to listen. “But he’s where he wants to be, and we’re happy, he’s there.” Vinicius hasn’t started the season in his usual form, notching just a goal and three assists in 10 games across all competitions. He has also received a four-match ban following a hair-pulling incident against Villarreal.
