Joan Garcia makes bold claim ahead of Barcelona vs Real Madrid: ‘We have a team capable of winning everything’ Joan Garcia believes FC Barcelona have the squad to compete for every major trophy this season, with the goalkeeper delivering an emphatic message of confidence ahead of Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid . Speaking during Barcelona’s pre-match media day, the Spanish goalkeeper insisted that the defeat against PSG should serve as a learning experience rather than a distraction. With the team preparing to welcome their biggest rivals, Garcia is eager to help his team respond with a strong performance in front of their home supporters. Joan Garcia urges Barcelona to focus on El Clasico response “We’re doing well, looking forward to Sunday,” he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo . Barcelona’s defeat against PSG was not the result Garcia and his teammates had hoped for, but the goalkeeper believes the team’s competitive performance against the reigning European champions offers lessons they can take into the Real Madrid clash. “We wanted to win in Paris. It was a difficult match, but the good thing about playing every three days is that you can focus on the next game,” he explained. Joan Garcia also stressed that Barcelona must avoid treating El Clasico as an opportunity to settle the La Liga title race prematurely. Ready for the big challenge. It’s a mistake to think we’ve already sealed the deal. We respect our opponent and are eager to play a great match and win El Clasico at home,” the goalkeeper said. Praise for the opposition The Barcelona shot-stopper expects Real Madrid to pose a significant attacking threat, pointing to players such as Kylian Mbappe, Yan Diomande, Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham. Nevertheless, he remains confident that Barcelona can impose their own style on the contest. “They can hurt you up front, but those are the kinds of matches we like. We also know exactly what we want to do and how we play,” he added. Joan Garcia also praised Thibaut Courtois, describing the Real Madrid veteran as “one of the best goalkeepers in the world.” However, he played down the idea of individual contests between the teams’ headline players. “On Sunday, it is Barça against Real Madrid, not Courtois against Joan or Mbappe against Lamine,” he stressed. Barcelona have the squad to challenge for every trophy Joan Garcia’s confidence extends well beyond the meeting with Real Madrid. The goalkeeper believes Barcelona possess the depth and quality required to remain competitive across La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. “I’m happy with the team and with the way we are playing. The important thing is to maintain that level,” he said, highlighting consistency as a key requirement for a successful campaign. His ambitions for the season were unmistakable. “We have a team capable of winning everything. We’ve shown we can compete against anyone, and our goal is to be in contention in every competition until the final whistle,” Joan Garcia declared. Complete confidence in the team. That’s the objective: to believe in ourselves, work hard, and go for it,” the Spaniard stated. Joan Garcia praises Barcelona’s goalkeeping competition The Barcelona goalkeeper also discussed his relationship with his teammates in the goalkeeping department, including Croatian international Dominik Livakovic, who arrived in the summer. Joan Garcia praised Livakovic’s attitude and contribution to the squad, describing him as “a guy who comes to contribute,” and emphasizing his “daily dedication in training and the experience he brings to the group.” Joan Garcia’s message reflects the ambition of this Barcelona squad and their belief that the team can win everything. And Sunday’s match against Real Madrid will provide a more immediate test of Barcelona’s ability to respond after a major setback.
