Andoni Iraola left buzzing after exciting development emerges about 'exceptional' Liverpool star
Andoni Iraola left buzzing after exciting development emerges about 'exceptional' Liverpool star Liverpool may not have been performing to the best standards possible this season but, the fact that they've just been given a new manager means that they deserve a bit of slack. And, if we're being honest, there have been times when things have looked an awful lot better than they did last term. But, more often than not, its felt like the Reds' wins have been rather fortunate with some of their performances far from ideal. Take Tuesday's 4-3 win over Villarreal for example. After 30 minutes, the Reds were 2-0 down but, by some miracle, they won the tie 4-3. A lot of this is down to the way that their first-team squad have performed which is why many different transfer rumours have began to emerge ahead of the January window. And now, something rather exciting could be on the horizon. Harvey Elliott is finally getting back to his best while on loan with Valencia Harvey Elliott 's career since Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool has been in a bit of a downward spiral. Arne Slot allowed the Englishman to stay during the 2024-25 season when the Reds won the Premier League title but, the season after, he was sent out on loan to Aston Villa after a rather impressive Euros for England's Under-21s. This loan move was expected to get his career back on track but, just a couple of games in, Unai Emery and Aston Villa changed their mind about signing him permanently which meant that the midfielder only played nine games across the entire campaign. He may have netted Villa's first goal during that time but, the season of not playing massively affected his performance levels. After this debacle, most Liverpool fans thought Iraola would give Elliott a chance to prove his worth but, once again, he was shipped out. Admittedly, things were a tad rocky for him at Valencia to begin with as the Spanish media even called him overweight. However, thanks to a recent update from their manager, Javier Aguirre, it finally feels like the Englishman is proving his worth and is getting back to his best. "I'm fortunate to be able to communicate in his language," he said in quotes relayed by Super Deporte . "He looks sharper; he's working with a personal nutritionist. I'm delighted with his attitude. "He has a lot of quality and is a Valencia CF player . We have to get the best out of him." Harvey Elliott could reignite his career if he continues performing to these levels with Valencia When Klopp was in charge, Elliott was often one of the first names on his teamsheet. However, for one reason or another, as soon as the German exited, things just didn't work out for the midfielder. Indeed, the fact that Florian Wirtz and other attackers were signed probably didn't help his confidence much, especially since he played so often for Klopp. But, now that he's got on the good side of Aguirre, he could easily reinvent himself and get his career back on track. Of course, all the players that stopped him from featuring in Liverpool's first-team squad are still at the club but, if he can dig deep and start scoring and assisting more, he could easily displace his teammates from the starting XI. He's still only 23 years so, even though it may feel like he's been around forever, Elliott still has an awful lot of his career left to go. At the moment, it's anyone's guess what could happen but, things certainly seem to be going in the right direction for the " exceptional " midfielder at the moment.
