‘We want to have more and be more’ – Crystal Palace want to improve says Potter
‘We want to have more and be more’ – Crystal Palace want to improve says Potter Crystal Palace head coach Jo Potter says that her side want to keep improving off the back of their solid start to life back in the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Eagles have taken six points from their six games so far and occupy 11th place in the league table. Reflecting on what Crystal Palace have achieved so far, head coach Potter said that her side have lacked consistency at times and that they are wanting to improve further. “It has been a little bit up and down,” Potter said when speaking to the media ahead of this weekend’s fixture against Chelsea. “We need a little bit more consistency in all of our areas which comes with being a new team [to the league] and trying to find your feet in the WSL. “We are working to a way and we are always trying to improve. We are not taking anything for granted, but we want to improve, we want to be better. We are not settling and being happy with where we are at, we want to have more and be more. “We are going to continue with that and keep pushing because it’s a long old season and there are still plenty more games to go.” Latest opponents Chelsea are unbeaten so far this season and Potter sees a side that are now getting back to their best after a poor campaign in 2025/2026. She said “It’s always tough when you have a transition period and what it looks like in terms of the signings that they’ve made and some of the outgoings that left the building. “What you always see with Chelsea is that they’re an efficient team, they have a clear identity, a clear way of playing and some real world-class players. They’re always going to be a tough team to play against. You’ve just got to try and limit those moments and opportunities. “They’re on a real good run of form at the moment and look really dangerous.” Chelsea midfielder Lexi Potter could face her former club this weekend. The midfielder previously enjoyed a successful loan spell with Crystal Palace. Eagles boss Potter said that Crystal Palace played a significant part in the youngster’s development. She said “The Palace fans love her. One thing about this club is that the fans adore their players; they were chanting for her in the cup game last season and she wasn’t even on the pitch. “I think it [the loan spell] was definitely integral in Lexi’s journey, her development and where she is now; getting exposure to WSL minutes super-early in her career. I think it was huge for her and it has put her in a much better place kicking on at Chelsea.” Crystal Palace’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Chelsea kicks-off at 12pm on Sunday afternoon.
