Liverpool given transfer timeline for £100m star, 'mammoth bid' expected
Liverpool given transfer timeline for £100m star, 'mammoth bid' expected Liverpool have been linked with a whole host of new players over the last couple of years. And, everyone involved with the club has known that many changes need to be made before Liverpool get back to their best. At the moment, they're on the cusp of the Champions League spots and, even though they're actually unbeaten in that competition so far this season, a lot more needs to come from them. Obviously, there have been times when the Reds have shone and have genuinely looked like they could be title contenders but, their recent 3-0 defeat against Manchester City proved otherwise. That's why so many fans want Liverpool to add some extra talent to their ranks before things start to go south. And, the fact that the January transfer window is now just over two months away is rather exciting, especially after the latest news to emerge from Anfield. Chelsea are preparing a 'mammoth bid' for Alex Scott so Liverpool must act fast Liverpool's midfield is clearly one of the main areas of their squad that they need to strengthen. The Anfield outfit only really have four senior options among their ranks and at the moment, one of them is out injured. And, the fact that journalists are now saying that Ryan Gravenberch may end up reprising his role as right-back in the future shows where Iraola is currently at with his squad. If a new midfielder isn't brought in by Liverpool in January , it'll be a massive shock. So, this latest update from TEAMtalk could end up becoming a rather important one for Liverpool and their timeline to sign Alex Scott . "Sources have strongly dismissed speculation that Alex Scott has already decided to join Liverpool amid claims his agent is pushing his client to move to Anfield, insisting that no decision has been made and that the Bournemouth midfielder’s future remains very much open," they wrote . "Had he signed that contract, he would have become the best-paid player in the club’s history, on a package worth an estimated £150,000 a week. "Instead, though, Bournemouth are now opening the doors to a potential sale in the winter window, albeit one on their terms only, and strictly if their huge asking price is met. "As a result, those close to Chelsea say the club remains keen and confident they can present both a competitive offer and a sporting project that the 23-year-old would find difficult to turn down. "The chance to play alongside Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers under Xabi Alonso, within a squad built around emerging talent, is still viewed as a significant attraction. "We’re told that Chelsea also believe that once formal talks begin in January – and sources indicate they do have the funds in place to launch a mammoth bid – then they can outline a clear pathway and role that appeals to Scott’s ambitions. "Meanwhile, sources have also confirmed Scott has decided to move on from Bournemouth as soon as possible, with two reasons cited as to why he has spurned the Cherries’ offer of a new deal." Alex Scott would be a transformative signing for Liverpool The fact that Scott already knows how to play in Iraola's system could be massive for Liverpool. Usually, when a player is signed by a club in January, it usually takes them the second half of the season to get adjusted to the new playing style. However, since Scott was managed by Iraola, he'd be able to fit straight into his plans at Anfield. Of course, the £100m + price tag is a massive red flag but, with the way the market is going at the moment, a 23-year-old homegrown midfielder could become priceless. So, not only would Scott fit into Iraola's plans with ease but, he'd also help them out with their homegrown issues and, would easily be around for the next five or so years. Here's hoping that a deal for at least one midfielder to Liverpool gets agreed soon.
